Getting started

How do I create an account or sign in?

Open UniPilot and tap Continue with Apple. Apple will guide you through creating a UniPilot account or signing in to an existing one. You can use Hide My Email. Sign-in is required; importing a timetable, adding courses and choosing Plus are optional setup steps.

What if Apple sign-in does not finish?

Check your internet connection, confirm that your device is signed in to an Apple Account, and try Continue with Apple again. Canceling the Apple screen leaves you on onboarding. UniPilot does not have a separate password to reset.

Use the same Apple Account if you are returning to an existing UniPilot plan. Never send support your Apple password or a verification code.

What can I do with Free?

Free includes 2 active courses, 3 manual deadlines, 5 introductory study sessions and the upcoming calendar month of imported timetable events. Saved past events remain available. At the first week that requires Plus, the timetable shows the upgrade option and further forward navigation is blocked.

Plus unlocks more courses and deadlines, unlimited study sessions and all imported timetable weeks. Current prices and offers are shown in the app before purchase.

Timetable and courses

How do I import my UvA timetable?

Open Week, choose the timetable import button and paste the HTTPS calendar export link from rooster.uva.nl. Confirm the import. You do not need to enter your university password in UniPilot.

The imported link is refreshed automatically when the app is active, with background refresh when iOS allows it. Use the reload button if you need to check now.

Why are some earlier classes missing?

UniPilot preserves events already saved from your timetable. A calendar provider may only include a limited date range in its current feed; the app cannot recover events that were never supplied or previously saved. Check the source calendar and allow a refresh to finish.

Why did an import or refresh fail?

Check the link, your internet connection and whether the source calendar is available. Use a calendar export URL rather than the normal timetable webpage. If a refresh returns no events or fails, the app keeps the events already saved.

Do not delete your timetable as a troubleshooting step. If the problem continues, contact support with the error message and a redacted screenshot. Timetable links can contain private access tokens.

How do I add a course?

In Courses, tap Add Course, paste a supported UvA course-catalogue link and start recognition. Recognition uses the cloud service with a local parser fallback. If the catalogue labels the course as an advanced year, choose Year 2, 3 or 4 before it is saved.

Open the saved course to review or edit its details. Recognition may be incomplete if the page is unavailable or its format changes.

How do I correct a course or grade?

Open the course and tap the relevant editable fact or assessment. To update a completed course, use its grade controls. Deleting a saved grade returns the course to Active Courses; deleting the course itself is a separate action with confirmation.

Account and backup

How does iCloud backup work?

Sign in with Apple in UniPilot and make sure iCloud is available on your device. Open Account → Backup & Recovery to check the latest status and retry a pending backup. Use the same UniPilot Apple account and the same iCloud account when moving to another device.

A successful sign-in does not guarantee that iCloud is connected. Limited storage, network problems or device settings may leave backup pending.

My plan is missing. What should I do?

Check that you used the same Apple Account as before. Allow iCloud synchronization to finish. In Account → Backup & Recovery, open the recovery copies and check the available dates before restoring one.

Avoid deleting the app or account while troubleshooting. Support cannot automatically read your private iCloud plan.

Can I use UniPilot offline?

Once you are signed in, saved courses, timetable events and study information remain on the device. Imports, cloud recognition, iCloud synchronization and purchases need a connection. Pending backups can resume when service becomes available.

How do I delete my account?
  1. Open Account in UniPilot.
  2. Choose Delete Account and read the confirmation.
  3. Continue with the same Apple Account to authorize deletion.
  4. Wait for deletion to finish. If it remains pending, use Finish deletion in Backup & Recovery to retry.

This removes the account-associated plan from the device and UniPilot’s private iCloud backup. A minimal deletion marker prevents older installations from restoring it. Cancel any App Store subscription separately. If you cannot access the app, email support for help.

Plus and purchases

I paid for Plus. How do I restore it?

Open the Plus purchase page and use Restore Purchases. Your App Store account must be the one used for the purchase. Allow the App Store check to finish and retry with a connection if needed.

The Apple Account used for App Store purchases can differ from the one used to sign in to UniPilot.

How do I cancel Plus?

Open Apple subscription settings, choose UniPilot and follow Apple’s cancellation steps. You can also use Manage Subscription from Account when Plus is active.

Deleting UniPilot or deleting your UniPilot account does not cancel the subscription. Access follows the subscription period and status reported by Apple.

How do I request a refund?

App Store refund requests are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the purchasing Apple Account. Apple decides eligibility. UniPilot support cannot issue an App Store refund directly.

Reminders and study sessions

Why am I not receiving reminders?

Open UniPilot’s Account settings and check that the relevant deadline, exam or tutorial reminder is enabled. Confirm notification permission in iOS Settings → Notifications → UniPilot, then check the reminder timing, Focus settings and whether the event time has already passed.

After allowing notifications, open UniPilot again so it can update scheduled reminders.

How do I start or finish a study session?

Open Timer, choose the relevant study details and start your session. Stop it when you are done to save the session. Live Activities depend on your iOS settings and may not always be visible on the Lock Screen.
